SUMMARY

LeadingAge Minnesota (LAMN) is the largest association of organizations serving Minnesota seniors including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, adult day, and other home and community-based services. It serves as a catalyst to shape the future of aging services and ensure older adults in every community live with dignity and purpose.

LeadingAge Minnesota is hiring a Community Engagement Director who will identify, educate, and engage aging services advocates across Minnesota.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate and create deeper relationships between providers and leaders within their communities.
  • In coordination with the VP of Advocacy and Director of Communications, develop a comprehensive strategy for targeted member engagement to enhance community stewardship of aging services providers and support public policy goals.
  • Coordinate and provide leadership for implementation of community engagement initiatives.
  • Employ a range of tactics to build awareness about aging services in communities across the state: community events and partnerships, social media, media relations.
  • Engage in community outreach efforts as it relates to LeadingAge Minnesota’s advocacy and legislative agenda.
  • Plan and execute policy related community events – such as town hall forums, candidate forums, information sessions, etc.
  • Contribute content to public policy and systems advocacy workshops, webinars, and trainings.
  • Develop and implement grassroots engagement strategies and initiatives that help support advocacy objectives and sustained engagement with the association.
  • Contribute written content for communication vehicles, such as action alerts, issue briefs, and articles to educate and mobilize members in support of advocacy efforts at the state and federal level.


QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • You are an expert communicator who likes writing, is comfortable making phone calls and engaging with people in-person.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset who can operate independently in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • You enjoy building leadership capacity in others.
  • You enjoy meeting new people.
  • You have a valid driver’s license.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • You have 5-7 years of experience in relationship management, including but not limited to working with elected officials, executive leaders, and community leaders.
  • You have direct experience working on political campaigns, grassroots advocacy, and/or community organizing.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • PowerPoint
