Overview

The role of Director of Association Management requires creativity, attention to detail, and exceptional problem-solving skills. The Director is responsible for executing the plans, goals, objectives, and directives of the associations contracted with the Firm. They are responsible for strategic planning, board and committee management, administration of day-to-day association operations, education and event management, and the coordination of services necessary to comply with association bylaws, policies, and state and national rules and requirements.

This is currently a part-time role with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position. Hours vary throughout the year with more time required during the legislative session and the fall to manage events and meetings. We are seeking candidates who are interested in helping to grow this part of our practice.

Position Details

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with association leadership and the firm’s senior management to develop a strategic plan for the assigned associations that aligns with each organization’s mission and goals, overseeing plan details and progress
  • Identify and recommend a portfolio of association management services based on the needs and interests of current and potential clients

Administration & Finance

  • Lead board/committee meeting planning and coordination, ensuring meeting format and materials facilitate participants' analysis of issues and decision making
  • Oversee association administrative operations, including budgets and accounting, membership recruitment and retention, and legal compliance
  • Maintain and update association membership records, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Manage the association’s exhibit and sponsorship programs, focusing on building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with partners. Provide regular reporting and administrative support to association Political Action Committees as needed

Learning & Engagement

  • Lead the planning and execution of learning programs and events, including board retreats, meetings, conferences, webinars, and other educational and networking opportunities
  • Manage content development for association educational programs, working in partnership with association leadership to identify timely, meaningful and effective learning opportunities
  • Coordinate applications for continuing education credit and communicate continuing education requirements and process to association members
  • Develop and manage all event specifications, including venue set-up, food and beverage, audiovisual/technical needs, platform requirements and other services
  • Coordinate association event details with sponsors and exhibitors

Member Services

  • Coordinate with association leadership Reg to develop programs, events, and materials that encourage member participation in the organization’s activities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact of contact for all association inquiries, managing a high volume of inbound and outbound communication
  • Develop and implement new membership offerings based on industry trends and member feedback
  • Identify and recruit prospective members that align with each organization’s mission, vision, and values

Relationship Management

  • Respond to association member questions and concerns in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with clients, credentialing organizations, policymakers, vendors/sponsors, national associations, and other strategic partners
  • Promote exhibit and sponsorship opportunities and work with existing partners to elevate their participation in association activities

Communications

  • Maintain a consistent communications schedule to keep association members informed, engaged, and connected.
  • Share association updates, event details, and key announcements through newsletters, email campaigns, and each association’s website.
  • Monitor industry and regulatory news to curate timely, relevant stories that add value for members.

Oversee website content and updates to ensure each association’s online presence remains accurate, dynamic, and aligned with organizational goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, association management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible roles for association management or association services
  • Proven track record of successful project management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, QuickBooks, association management platforms, and social media platforms
  • Highly organized, ability to multitask on a variety of projects
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; writes clearly and informatively
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and office management systems and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with clients, elected officials and legislative staff
  • A reliable and dependable team player; balances team and individual responsibilities
  • Contributes to a positive team spirit and working environment

Compensation and Benefits:

Part-time role with potential to grow into full-time salaried position. Hourly rate to be determined based on experience with the range between $45-$60 per hour.
