Job Title: LEGISLATIVE COORDINATOR
We are seeking a full-time Legislative Coordinator to join our dedicated team at Poul Haas. In this role, you will play a key role in our legislative efforts, working collaboratively with our lobbyists and staff to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.

Position Overview: As a Legislative Coordinator, you will support the firm’s legislative efforts by keeping our clients and our team informed about developments in the Minnesota Legislature and state agencies. Responsibilities include tracking bills, monitoring hearings and floor sessions, researching legislation, preparing client updates and reports, drafting talking points for hearings, monitoring news outlets, and providing administrative and client support to the government relations team. Administrative responsibilities include managing calendars, tracking and performing billing tasks, answering calls and emails, and providing support to attorneys, lobbyists, and staff as needed as well as collaborating with other Legislative Coordinators and the Firm Coordinator to ensure smooth daily operations. Client support includes coordinating meetings and events to facilitate client interactions with legislators. Success in this role requires outstanding communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legislative Tracking: Tracking bill introductions, daily schedules, and legislative actions, providing timely updates to the government relations team.
- Committee Engagement: Attend committee hearings, take detailed notes, and ensure our team is timely updated of committee actions.
- Session Monitoring: Monitor legislative sessions to deliver timely updates and recommendations to the government relations team.
- Client Reports: Prepare detailed reports and documents for clients.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct research on legislative issues affecting clients. Deliver periodic and year-end legislative reports with actionable insights.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervising attorneys and lobbyists, non-supervising attorneys and lobbyists, legislative coordinators, firm coordinators, and association management staff.
- Communication: Draft communications, detailed reports, and response letters. Ensure documentation of legislative activities and client interactions.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to supervising attorneys and lobbyists.
- Managing the schedules of supervising attorneys/ lobbyists.
- Efficiently schedule appointments with legislators and clients.
- Organize meetings, fundraisers, and events to facilitate client interaction with legislators and officials.
- Maintain organized and accessible files and records.
- Take comprehensive notes during meetings.
- Coordinate travel arrangements.
- Media Monitoring: Monitor local and national news outlets daily to stay informed on relevant issues. Curate and distribute articles of interest to clients.
- Office Program Proficiency: Write documents, create presentations, and modify spreadsheets with precision and accuracy. Experience in Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, Canva, and other related technologies.

Requirements:
- Possess a college degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a legislative, government, or administrative position; or related field.
- Experience in or ability to learn the legislative process and bill tracking.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask on various projects.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and informatively.
- Capable of working under strict deadlines to deliver high-quality documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling professional interactions with clients, elected officials, and legislative staff.
- Reliable and dependable team player, balancing both team and individual responsibilities.
- Contributes to a positive team spirit and a collaborative working environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, Canva, social media
Salary and Benefits:
- Full time, salaried (40 hours per week)
- Salary commensurate with experience, range of $45,000 to $58,000, based on experience
