Government Relations Intern

POSITION:
Metro Cities (Association of Metropolitan Municipalities is seeking a full-time temporary intern for the 2020 legislative session, beginning mid-January. Metro Cities is a lobbying organization that represents cities in the seven-county metropolitan area at the State Legislature, Executive Branch and Metropolitan Council. This position provides recent graduates from undergraduate or graduate programs with an opportunity to assist Metro Cities and its staff on its legislative agenda at the State Capitol. Applicants will gain experience in legislative policies and processes and should have an interest in state legislative and regional government issues. 

DUTIES:
Assist Metro Cities staff with implementation of its 2020 legislative agenda.
Track legislative issues/bills.
Assist with weekly newsletter writing and editing.
Research legislative and policy issues relating to state or regional policies and funding.
Assist with updating website content.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

SALARY:   $17.00 per hour. 

REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree required.
Excellent writing skills.
Ability to multi-task and organize/prioritize workload.
Strong research skills.
Must be self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work full time, including late hours and weekends as needed.
Proficiency with computer, software programs and Internet.
