The government relations practice of Flaherty & Hood, P.A. in St. Paul is seeking a Policy Analyst. Applicants must be able to analyze public policies, including state program funding formulas such as Local Government Aid, create new formulas, evaluate policies using statistical analysis, and present their analysis in a concise and understandable manner orally, graphically, and in writing. The applicant should be comfortable presenting and defending material in one-on-one settings with elected officials and in group settings. The applicant would preferably have a familiarity with Minnesota’s state budgeting process, Minnesota’s property tax system, and experience working with local governments. This position requires expertise in the use of Excel and familiarity with Access, Word, PowerPoint, and statistical modeling programs.

The position will include some in-state travel, occasional irregular and evening hours, meetings with state legislators and policymakers, and presenting to large group audiences.
